Trading Holidays 2023 @ BSE & NSE:

Like every year, this year too, a trading holidays calendar 2023 was released on December 8, 2022. The calendar is a well-structured holiday scheduled for trading holidays for investors trading the Equity Derivatives and SLB segment.

BSE in a Global Context: 

Bombay Stock Exchange, BSE began to expand the trading platform in 2000 with the introduction of the derivatives market, trading S&P BSE SENSEX futures contracts. Later, with the development of S&P BSE SENSEX options and the beginning of the equity.

Derivatives in 2001 & 2002, the stock exchange performance spiraled.

First to be established in Asia, BSE in terms of market capitalization is the third largest stock exchange in a global context. Although 6000 companies have been listed, the participation of retail investors is said to be 6 million, as per the survey conducted by Economic Times.

Furthermore, the Bimal Jalan Committee report released a comparative analysis that stated only 3 % of the Indian population is making an investment in the Stock Exchange while the USA (29 %) and China ( 10%).

To make the trading better organized, the Bombay Stock Exchange markets have regulated daily working hours of 6 hrs 15 minutes. The BSE operates Monday through Friday and the trading is kept at bay every Saturday, and Sunday.

Labeled to be the tenth largest stock exchange, National Stock Exchange, NSE, records a market capitalization of US $3.4 trillion. Headquartered in Mumbai, India NSE recorded the third-largest cash equities by trading operations for the calendar year 2022. It is the largest derivatives exchange whose ownership is led by leading financial institutions, insurance, and banks. 

Besides the scheduled trading holidays, the NSE is kept closed on Saturday and Sunday throughout the calendar year. Thereby shutting down the equity sector, equity derivative segment, or SLB segment even during the scheduled NSE holidays.

MCX Holidays 2023

Forward Markets Commission, FMC, has governed National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, NCDEX, and Multi Commodity Exchange, MCX, since 2003.
