What does NATO stand for?
NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO, was created to counter the USSR’s Aggressive Movement towards European Nations by the United Kingdom, and France at Durkin in 1949.
Steadily, several countries began to join NATO and till date, 30 states have become its members. In addition, Finland, Hungary, and Ukraine have lined up to seek NATO membership and are waiting for the member states’ approval. Currently, Jens Stoltenberg is the Secretary General of NATO and North Atlantic Council is the most powerful top political decision-making body of NATO.
Currently, NATO is an alliance of about 30 countries belonging to Europe and North America. In fact, it forms a single link between two continents to serve a purpose.
It establishes cooperation between member countries in the field of defense/security and engages operations through a multinational management crisis system.
